Preliminary Hearing Prayer Plan

Monday Jan 30^th 8 AM at Supreme Court

   Greetings from the Belize Action Team. This Monday Jan. 30^th is the Preliminary Hearing on the UNIBAM lawsuit against our Govt. & nation. The Hearing is scheduled to begin at 9 AM Monday at the Supreme Court in downtown Belize City.

We will be gathering there at 8 AM to start in prayer, worship,
& prayer walks around the Supreme Court building.

We're urging everyone to FAST on Monday, and most definitely PRAY for this significant event, even though it's just the Preliminary Hearing. Pastors, leaders, take time Sunday in your services to worship & pray over this court case!

        The submissions for "expert witnesses" will be presented, as well as challenges to witnesses by both sides. As fervent citizens and members of our Nation, we want to stand in the place of spiritual authority in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, that literally God's glory would descend upon the Supreme Court and that ALL would be fully aware of the presence of the Living God, the SUPREME JUDGE over all, and that literally the FEAR OF THE LORD would fill that room. Let that result in DIVINE ORDER for those on God's side, and confusion & disorder in the camp of those against Him and His loving & all wise ways.

        Obviously, with the Supreme Court hearings, we cannot host any type of loud or noisy event during that, but we can gather in small groups or prayer walk around the premises. So if you and others are available to come and pray, that would be awesome!
If you can't come, please join with us in prayer & fasting,
carrying this issue in your heart for the day.
We've talked about this since last year, and now it's starting!
Please let this not be just "business as usual."
DISCERN THE TIMES, the "kairos" (Greek for "fullness of time, opportune season")
DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN RESPONSE TO THE SITUATION!
Take that extra time, extra focus, extra effort, extra sacrifice,
And we will see God break through!! J

We envision a LARGE NUMBER of working people carrying this in prayer all day Monday. These are exciting days, and we have the wonderful opportunity to co-partner with our Heavenly Father on this issue.

This our first YWAM Staff Cabana coming down the road! We will be fixing it up to house our season of service member coming next week. The guys are doing an amazing job renovating it, it's going to be so pretty! Thank God for the finances to do this, the wisdom to see the potential and the manpower to make it happen. We are YWAM! Have You Met Grizzly?

Have you met out new puppy Grizzly? He us the result of our promise to Judah when he was in treatment. You see, when kids are going through chemotherapy their immune systems go WAY down and are not "allowed" to be near any animals. Judah LOVES animals and this was one of the hardest things for him last year.

At The Ronald McDonald House they would invited "therapy dogs" into the lobby. These dogs were required to be groomed before they arrived and be trained not to lick! (They had to meet other standards as well.)

Let's just say Grizzly would NEVER pass for a Therapy Dog at RMH, but he sure brings a smile to the kids at the Andrews House!

Yes!!! Judah is all clear! The lump was something called "Thymus Rebound". Which is very normal for lymphoma patients. It's an immune system organ that tends to shrink and swell under heavy chemo. His was swollen but there was no way to know for sure unless we did the PET scan. It had shifted position a bit (again, fairly normal) but it was right next to a lymph node which caused the concern. Anyways - he is free and clear!!!! Thanks so much for praying with us. Your faith and words of encouragement brought peace in the moments that we had none and we didnt feel like we were alone. Please feel free to forward this to anyone who was praying with us! SO thankful to God! Whew!

Hey friends and family,

As you know, we have continued with Judah's monthly trips to Seattle for treatment. Yesterday, a CT was done as part of His regular treatment plan. However, the doctors found a lump that is of concern. So Sara and Judah will not return to Belize today. On wednesday morning Judah will do a PET scan to take a better look.

Please join us in prayer for a miracle. We need to see the hand of God move. Pray that whatever it is will be removed. Please pray for peace for all of us in this season. God is faithful but this is a hard time for our family.

On Saturday night, our guest speaker and Legacy friends felt led to collect an offering for our family, specifically for airline tickets for Judah and Sara to travel to Seattle for Judah's cancer treatment. We prayed,... God moved. Students started bringing watches, iPods, cameras, flash drives, jewelry, shoes, hats and shirts and putting it in the offering bucket. The bucket was OVERFLOWING!!! Literally! We received over $2700 (from teenagers) and $100's more in merchandise ... unreal ... Here is just one of the many testimonies of what happened afterwards.

"get this clear, the word of God is real and never back fires. I gave in my only footwearsaturday night at Legacy confrence as an offering and i have been calling forth a Jordan tennis ever since then because i had no tennis, only the slippers i gave up.. Today i got my spankin new Jordan tennis.. it literally came to my door. on this note when we pray calling forth something, be specific. i got it one size bigger than my feet, yet i am so grateful :)"

This rope was put up in the middle of the conference signifying how we each have our own mountain to climb, our own giants to slay. Individuals were encouraged to "climb the mountain", "stand and fight in the battle", asking God for the tools needed to successfully conquer the mountain.

Legacy Happening Now!

Thank you all so much for standing with us for this beautiful nation. PLEASE join with us in prayer this weekend for the Legacy Youth Conference happening RIGHT NOW! We have over 200 young people here, ages 15 and up! (We had to cut off registration at 200 and regretfully turned way many youth groups and individuals who wanted to attend. Pray for a miraculous release of finances for this move of God!)

Tonights session opened up with a passionate cry, a sweet, humble cry of humility spread throughout the crowd and God's Spirit touched us, healed us, welcomed us and strengthened us. FIRST THING! Even before any announcements, any preaching, teaching... just.... right into the presence of God. So amazing, so beautiful.

Then the army of God was assembled! God spoke: "No longer will you pray for an army of God to arise, it has risen!"
Please continue to pray for us and for the leaders and youth here at Legacy this weekend. We are not here to waste time, neither are they! There is nowhere else we would rather be RIGHT NOW. We are honored that God would call us to this work. Thanks for walking here with us.

Legacy and what your parents are doing is paving a way for you, giving you favor.

So, it's all over now ha? How was the wedding? I saw one photo on facebook. Pastor Bob took one with his phone. Kendra looked beautiful. I'd like to see more, so sorry to have missed it.
Yesterday was a lazy day. We had great plans, but it was a holiday, Battle of Saint George day, so everything was closed. The Chinese stores were open, so after I went out to YWAM base
to get a few more things, I made a delicious dinner. Well, they liked it. Shake and bake chicken, real rice, and mac and cheese. Oh ya. Also, about the rice pot,
it is definitely not working. See if you can find one. If you can't find one, then bring mine, I can always get another later. Not the small one, the bigger one.
So, Jason worked on the yard, and driveway. Which is now looking great.
He also had to go to the airport to pick up the two new staff members and their baby. So that took up a couple hours, and then we all went to dinner.
Today is Sunday, it is fairly cool so far. I might attempt some more laundry, but the washer is not spinning out the clothes, so they come out pretty wet, and without a clothes dryer yet, ( stores closed)
it can't get hooked up. It took all day yesterday to dry them, with full on sun, so I'm a little leery of doing it in this coolness. I probably will, I'll let you know, cause I know you all need to know.

So then, today we plan on setting up a few rooms for the new arrivals. Whoohooo. The boys rooms are fully sealed up, no mosquitoes at all, so that is a very good thing. We will put the
queen bed in Elijah's room, ( for me and Rich) and the bunk beds in Judah's room, ( For the boys), and we are thinking to set Keilah up in the unfinished bathroom off the master bedroom.
Or possibly in with the boys, which she doesn't want. She would like to be upstairs, but it is too hot up there, no ventilation yet, and full of mosquitos, so she will just have to be a good sport
for now. Like they haven't all been good sports for way too long now. It will be so good for all the Andrews to get back to normal. What ever that is. Anyway, the bathroom it is.

Heres a cute thing. A mother bird had built a nest in Judah's room in a small hole in the wall. And the eggs hatched! So she was feeding them and flying in and out through the rafters.
They were sealing up the room with a ceiling, which would have cut off the mothers entrance, so we had Daniel put the nest, with the babies a foot away from the hole up in the rafters,hoping
the mommy would find them. And she did! So, there are four baby birds, fully visible from up stairs. So cute. She's a tiny tiny mommy bird. Like a humming bird, only not. The kids have named two
of them, feather, pipsqueak and something else. All last names are sparrow. Or so they say for today.
Well, I'm gonna go and heat some water and wash my hair. Sounds like a plan. Maybe cook some breakfast, but maybe not.
Keilah just drove the car around the block. Glad I missed that. Ok, I better get moving before I get fired. Talk to you all later. Enjoy your quiet Sunday. Love love.

It's Happening

so exciting. It's happening, Sara and Judah and Rich will be coming next week Tuesday. Or so is the plan. So excited, and so much to do.
This morning, the power company came and it took 5 minutes to do the job we have been waiting a week for. Grr. But, it's done, so now
Ian just has to hook it up to the house, and we will have real power like a real house. Woohoo. And yesterday the other bedroom got sealed
up with a ceiling, and today the last of the downstairs ones will get done. Then, all we have to do is paint, and get the ceiling on the main hall and kitchen, and bla bla bla. Still lots to do, but it's happening. Amazing. So very exciting. I can't wait for them to see everything. Sara, your house is so beautiful, and it's gonna be so wonderful to have you in it , (And me not. Hahahah, kidding. I had to say it. ) It's been quite the adventure and I
have really enjoyed it. It's nice to be needed ya know.
So, I guess I should get this off to you guys and get back to the house and supervise the moving of beds and suitcases ands stuff. I might try to
get some boxes and go over to YWAM again and get some more stuff. Maybe. It's only 78 today so far, so it feels like I need a sweater. Ha
haha. Right.
Today, Keilah is in a parade, walking around the ring road, so I Might not have a way to get home anyway, could be another adventure. Wish me luck. Talk to you all soon.

Oh my gosh, there is like, over 9 guys in this house, all hammering or sawing, or something. Crazy. Dog barking, craziness.
What a production.

We had a good morning. I had this brilliant idea, I bought, and then hid meat pies yesterday at the market. So this morning
I heated them in the oven. And voila. Served up with some bananas and watermelon. Who's the best gramma in the world?
Oh ya. I had to redeem myself from the disaster of last nights dinner. Rice and beans is not my best thing. Especially since
the rice pot did not work, it would not turn on to cook, only stayed on warm, ( Might be because it's all dented and doesn't
quite go down all the way into the heater, ) so I had to try to do it on the stove, and I don't
think I put enough water in it. And no one mentioned that Keilah doesn't really care for rice and beans. And Elijah didn't like
meat because it had cooked tomatoes. Sigh. So after dinner , that no one ate, we went to Mama's so Celina could help Keilah with her
language. And Elijah and I worked on his homework. It went well. I think Keilah has it now. That's cool. She was not too
happy with her math, which is dividing double and triple digits. Ouch. So ya, lets just say homework is not her favorite
thing. I have three loads of laundry to take to Mama's. I am making Jason do it, I don't really like to drop off my work and
show up later to get it. I feel weird about it, so I let him do it. It's his mom after all.

Still waiting on the power man to show up. Gosh, could they be any slower? And all this time, we don't know if the washer
is going to work or not. I so hope it does.

Oh, Sara, those size 8 pants we got for Elijah are too big, so he doesn't have any long pants for school. Look around will ya?
His shorts fit him fine, unless he does the splits, which he did, and now I have to locate a needle and thread to fix the tear in the
crotch. But he didn't tell me about out this until last night before bed, so he has a tear in his shorts. Gosh. I fell like I flunked the
dressing this morning. Keilah got told one of her skirts is too short. One of the pants is too big
, and the other are almost too tight. But her hair looked good, and Elijah smelled good. I do what I can.Were you able to locate any
more polo shirts for her? We can buy them from BCA, I think. And I
believe they sell them in blue too, if they aren't sold out. Just need some money. Can't they just give us a break?

So, I don't know much else. It's cold today. Ha. Well, seriously, Keilah had her sweater on this morning, and I had capris on.
It is starting to clear up though. I think I'll call and see if Jessie can go to lunch. That would be fun.

I should call Patti too, and tell her where I am, she will be worried. Maybe. We made it over to their new house yesterday.
It will be so nice for them. Big bedrooms. Seems like a nice neighborhood too.

2nd week?

Wow. I have been here almost two weeks. Settling in. Trying to get a routine, but with school, dinner invitations, building, etc., It's been hard. We finally drew up a contract for
afterschool, meal times, snacks, tv, homework and showers and bedtime, but then we got an invitation for lobster dinner, and, well, eventually Keilah tore up the contract. Sigh.
We will try again. Between the heat, and the stress of never ending sounds of building, new school commitments, and being back in Belize, it's hard for the kids to to remain cool,
calm and collected. ( Not to mention me, but we won't go there.) So,it is challenging, but our mornings are great. Keilah pretty much wakes up right after me, and Elijah just follows eventually.
No problems at all getting them up, fed and dressed. It's very relaxed and everyone is in a good mood. Course the heat hasn't started, and we have been getting over 9 hours of sleep each
night, so I think that helps. I drive them the 15 minutes to school, we listen to some fun learning tapes, and then I have the rest of the day off, until 3:20 when I pick them up.
That is when I go to the store, visit Patti, do internet, maybe have lunch with someone, and on a really good day, take a nap. But, that has only happened once, too much noise
around here.
Speaking of, we got power to our pole today. Not to the house yet, another crew has to come and take it from the road pole to our pole in the yard, then Ian has to come and take
it from the yard pole to the house, but it is ever so close! Imagine? Making toast, and coffee and maybe even running the fan AT THE SAME TIME!!!! It will be glorious. I don't know
what they are doing out there, but the kitchen is all messed up again, so I just threw the grocery's in the fridge and now I am trying to hide in my room, but, alas. They put the electrical
box in this bathroom, so theres a lot of traffic through here. That's ok, what else would I do? Uh, nap??? Smap. I can nap when I'm dead. Or something.
You all probably saw our wonderful meal at Jessies last night. wow. Lobster was delicious. We did get home a little late, so no showers, but I was able to heat some water
for Keilah in the morning so she could at least wash some sweat off for school. She was happy. Elijah just said, "I'm ok." And didn't shower, but he did put more deodorant on. Ya,
that will help. funny little guy.
So I pretty much know my way around. Have my favorite stores. Favorite internet spots, and favorite places to do laundry. I would prefer to do it here, maybe tomorrow? If the washer
still works. You can pray for that. I'll lay hands on it before we try it again. sheesh.
So, I have no real idea what day this is, Tuesday I guess. So that makes it day..........12? My adventure continues.
The house now has all it's windows in and sealed. Screens going on as we speak. Unfortunately the upper level still has holes, so we aren't exactly bug proof yet. Maybe by the end
of the week. the only room semi sealed is me and Keilah's, but even that has places mosquitos can get in. Mental note, do not stand by the bed too long, theres a lot of them under
neath and they dart out and get you so fast, I had like 7 new ones in five minutes yesterday. For some reason they don't come up here on top of the bed, but wait till you stand there.
I think they come out at night though. But, nothing a little bug spray and some black-mosquito coils doesn't alleviate. We have our ways, it just took us a while to figure it out.
Well, that's about all I can think of right now. Gonna try to take a nap, and then it's back to work. Feel free to write me, I found my internet again so I can get my messages.

Pickle Packing

I got the honor of Pickle Packing today with two of my Aunties and close friends. I enjoyed it so much! I can see how canning would be addictive. I would do it again tomorrow if I could!

I must say it was a very pleasant experience. So fulfilling and gratifying. Those beautiful jars of pickles and peppers all lined up in neat little rows.

Next I'd like to learn how to can fruit - jams, preserves and all those beautiful things. Thanks ladies for that wonderful, therapeutic day. I love you each so much - mommy, I missed you!

Day 6 & 7ish

I don't know, day 6 and 7? We cam on last Thursday, so I guess that would be right. The house is coming right along. The roof is all but done. They put in real cement stairs off the front veranda yesterday, so we don't have to scale down the cement blocks anymore. Mr. Alfred, (Jason's step dad) is hooking up the kitchen sink today, which John and Jason put in yesterday. So, IF i had dishes, I could wash them. Little steps.
Yesterday's news was so wonderful we sort of lost track of time, and so had a very late dinner, late homework doing, and late to bed. But, everyone was in fine form this morning, so no problem.
Yesterday I spent the morning at Scott and Cheryl's. That was nice. Then I cleverly found "Formosa" which is Andy's new restaurant coffee shop. they have internet and air conditioning. That is where I was when I heard the great
news about Judah. So I cried and shook for a while and Andy's Dad came over from behind the counter and hugged me and prayed and we praise God right there. Wonderful. So exciting. I was overwhelmed with relief. Truly.
So it was a good day all around. Now today I am at John and Patti's. Spreading my mooching around. Don't want to overstay anywhere. Jessie, Jason's sister, called to invite me to lunch, so I will do that in a few hours.
Ran into Kathy at a store. We made a vague coffee date. It's strange being so free in the day. I know there is a lot I could do at home, but it is so noisy, and if I clean up, they just mess it all up again, so I just stay away
as long as possible. OH, and we should be getting REAL power by tomorrow. Exciting!!! that will be great. Everything so far is coming through an extension cord from the dance studio, so it's been a tricky thing keeping the
fridge going, and making coffee, and running fans. Everyday something else gets done. something happened to the swimming pool, so it has a few leaks. That sucks, but I'll try to fix them a little this afternoon. Elijah
likes to lay in the pool between bike rides. He loves his bike riding. Keilah loves he r" little house" movies. Perhaps a little too much, but hey. It's not like the house has that many options at this point.
I have tonights dinner all planned out. I got some chicken breast, and some mushroom soup, gonna cook those up in a tin pan I bought, add some potatoes, and that should be good. Maybe I'll get some veggies of some
sort. So, that's about it here for days 6 and 7. It's 10 AM right now, very warm, not too many clouds, so it feels extra hot. Gonna want that pool to be full later. Oh ya.
School report. Elijah is adjusting very well. Janine is great. His only challenge is his handwriting, which isn't very legible, so she sent home a book for him to practice in, which he wouldn't do last night, so hopefully tonight he will.
He was the 2nd fastest boy in running in his class, and the best jump roping boy. so he's fitting right in. He always says "Great!" when you ask him how his day was. Happy little guy.
Keilah is making friends, and seems to be getting used to the structure of a real school. She doesn't care for criticism, but who does? I'm trying to get her to not take it too personal, and to learn from it, and think of it as
teaching. she had a hard math assignment, which I couldn't help her with. Soooooooooooo, we really need to get internet. She is doing well in everything else, and signed up for volleyball. I think she will be fine, just
going to take a little time.
Jason is working like a crazy man. Trying to get everything ready for his bride. I told him to hold it down and to let Sara enjoy some of this. We shall see. He wants it perfect.
And me? I'm fine. By the end of the day, I am pretty tired. It's hard to keep track of all those folders, pencils, erasers, glue, homework, clothes and badges. Gosh. This isn't for old people. It hurts my brain, but I'm doing fine.
Keeping busy with all my social engagements. I should probably be resting during the day, but it's too hot anyway, so, I do what I can. I'll try to take some pictures tonight and send them tomorrow.

We did it! We got up on time, had breakfast, got dressed, and made it to school on time! They did great! totally fine. So grown up. Ya, ok, so I got teary.
We ran into all kinds of people we know. Duh. sort of like a family reunion. And Naomi and Shane are going too. Naomi started crying when she was Keilah.
So last night I actually got the kids to sleep, actually asleep by 9:15! Miracle. Keilah so didn't want to. She said she only need 8 hours of sleep, so she could stay
up till 11. Uh no. So, then this morning, she was up bright and early at 7. so excited. And Elijah right behind because Romeo woke him up with kisses. gonna hire
that dog. Elijah got dressed and said, " I look ridiculous." Then Keilah got dressed and Elijah said, "You look ridiculous." We told him everyone would be wearing the same
thing and he looked fine. He said......."I know, that's why its so ridiculous!". So funny. So now I am at Patti's, because the bathroom is being tiled, oh, I gotta send those
pictures too. so, Ill do that and write some more if I have time before I get kicked out. Miss you guys.

First Day of School

Mom's First Report From Belize

Living without internet is the pits!

But living without other things would be worse. Luckily, Jason saw to it that we didn't have to. I had my doubts, oh yes I did too. But, after arriving here at the new
house, Thursday afternoon, and being promised windows, screens, running water, a toilet, and electricity, and seeing ALL that occur before I went to bed, was an amazing
and actually unbelievable thing. I did not believe it could happen, but I didn't let on, I got out my gloves and began sweeping, because that I could s
do. And then I began sorting the bags of "stuff", because I had to know if it was anything we needed. We did. And by the end of the night, I organized half a household's belongings,
to the best of my ability, and knew where the sheets for the king size bed were. And I knew where the towels for the showers were. And I Knew where all the
underwear and clean clothes were, when we needed them ,
and , well, we did it. Whew. We went to bed, bathed, fed and comfortable. ( All except Jason) And now. after the second day, we have two bedrooms in working order,
so Jason doesn't have to sleep on cement again. We have doors on the bathroom, and me and Keilah's bed room. We have curtains. We have a refrigerator, a faucet
in the kitchen that works, no sink, but hey, it's only day two. We have a new vanity sink for the bathroom, to be installed tomorrow, after the new tile that will also go in tomorrow.
It's just going to be such a beautiful house, that any inconvenience now is the least of our trials.
All that said, I'd just like to say that I am honored to be included. I am sorrier that Sara is missing all this. And I mean that in the nicest way, as I know she would totally
love all this. WE miss her and JUdah so much. It's just not Belize without them. Yes, it is hot and sweaty. Everything is so much harder, but I feel so accomplished when I
actually get something done. Keilah and I built an outdoor table today for the veranda, that is so pretty. I'll post pictures. Th blisters on my "sweeping" thumb are beginning
to heal, I will probably have calluses soon. Oh well. WE discovered Facetime works here, which is great, except we have to go to Joh and Patti's until we get internet here.
Also I will have to send this from there.
WE also registered the kids for school today. Now i am stressing how to attached their school emblems to their uniforms. Sheesh. Sewing? I don't think so. Anyway. Tomorrow
will be another day of seeing so mush happen ti makes my head spin. Hope to be able to keep you posted. Did I mention we had dinner at our own "kitchen" table tonight?
Soon I may even cook the meal. Hahahahah. No, I am not cooking outside over a fire. I refuse. Too hot already. Ok,, blessings to all, and keep praying for us all. Miss you guys.

Every Bead Tells A Story

And what a story the necklace tells! Perhaps we don't want to remember this nightmare, but we WILL celebrate and acknowledge all that Judah has gone through.

I have been waiting for him to be "ready" to make his necklace. I didn't push it. When he was ready to face the reality of all he went through he would tell me. I know how hard it had been on him, I also have witnessed the discovery of courage and strength he found along the way. I humbled by this young man that God has entrusted to me.

Judah with his Side By Side buddies. Side By Side is an amazing ministry out of the University Presbyterian Church, who come alongside families going through a serious illness at Seattle Children's and Ronald McDonald House.
Trained Volunteers spend a few hours a week with the kids just hanging out and having fun, which gives the parents some time to rest or TALK?! Haha!
Our kids have the most incredible Side By Side Buddies EVER! Michael, Andrew, Malia, Emily... We truly appreciate you guys. You have touched our hearts and lives in a very special way. Thank you for all you have done.

Well, we had a night off (due to low blood counts) and decided to "celebrate" with a trip to one of the Classics. Dicks in Seattle. If I'm not mistaken the one we went to in Wallingford was the first one to open up in 1954. AND I think they are open till 2:00am? Might have to check that out on our way home from the airport tonight!

Building Our House

Just Another Bump in the Road

So we had to move out of the Ronald McDonald house for a few weeks. Apparently someone staying at the House had chickenpox and were out in the kitchen long enough to spread it around. The doctors advised us to move out because none of our children have had it. So here we are, living in Hotel Nexus.

I have always thought of our family as the nomadic type. The word "Gypsy" seems a bit extreme, but we seem to fit the " missionary" title quite well.

Moving from one place to another is not really a problem for our kids. Although recently we have had to clarify when we say "We are going to head home soon".

It brings back to mind the truth and comfort of our ultimate citizenship of Heaven. In THIS I rest secure, not in my home (or lack of) but in the safety of My Fathers plan.

"But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior." Phil 3:20

Oh, and so far we don't think any of our kids have Chickenpox. If they do get Chickenpox, it will just be another bump in the road.

Remembering Green

While cleaning the room I found Judah's St Patricks Day Clover that he made in school. Each child had a green 4 leaf clover and on each petal they wrote their wishes. Judah's St. Patricks Day wishes broke my heart at the time, maybe that is the reason I am just now finding this art project. After walking through 6 months of this journey somehow I feel more able to cope with the reality of lymphoma and the strength we find in facing the truth. In my weakness He is made strong, and I find a safe shelter under the shadow of His wings.

I sit beside Judah as he fights this thing with such childlike, hopeful, confident faith. Why not wish to fly? Why not wish to not have cancer? Isn't God big enough to fulfill our wildest dreams? Are we not GREAT when we are hidden in Him? Oh we are... Judah is. Judah is amazing. God is Amazing. These wishes now bring a smile to my heart, they no longer have the cheating power to steal my childs dreams away. God is certainly bigger than the boogie man.

Update on Judah - April 10, 2011

Thank you all so much for praying for Judah. We realize that it has been a while since we have written an update, sorry for that.

Judah is now in the beginning of phase 3 for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Thanks to God the first two phases were fairly uneventful. He remains happy and is maintaining his weight which is a wonderful blessing.

Phase 3 has been hard on him. He was in the hospital for 9 days! The chemo he got lingered in his system for over 10 days and did some slight cell damage in his kidneys. In response to this his blood pressure also went up, indicating that his sytem was just working hard. Once the chemo clears all the way his kidneys will begin to repair themselves. As of now the kidney tests are showing some improvement so we are relived and trust there will be a full recovery.

We will have to do this same treatment 3 more times to complete phase 3. Next week we will all sit down (our family, the doctors and nurses) and re-evaluate Judah's response to the first treatment and make neccessary chages to try to avoid a repeat of last week.

We will certainly keep you updated as things progress - we typically keep facebook posts current. Again, thank you all for praying and walking through this with us. Judah is not alone!

Legacy Youth are among the most amazing youth in the world. I am so glad we are not walking this road alone.

"So.was thinking bout cutting my hair off for a while...then one day i just thought of judah, and my mind was set. I had to cut it off.
I am now left with about two inches of hair.Tomorrow, upon my arrival into Bze city, i am going to donate that hair to the Cancer Society.

Smells

In these days of ultra sensitivity to smells, Judah often finds it difficult to hang around the kitchen. It reminds me of when I was pregnant with each of my darling babies. One random smell has the potential to ruin a good meal. He must be very careful with what he eats but even more careful with what he smells and sees. These are the days of adjusting, of being flexible. A simple meal becomes "not-so-simple". Those smells sure are powerful things.

The poem below was written by Elijah for his brave brother Judah. May his days be filled with lovely smells.

SMELLS

January 27th update

First off, thank you for your faithful friendship and prayers for our family. We have been amazed by the love of God showered on us by your every act of love and obedience toward the Father. We find comfort in your continual reassurance that your prayers will be with us through this journey and beyond.

This season has been full of changes and uncertainty. We are unable to understand all that has taken place in the last two months or how God will use it for His glory, but we are sure that He has our best interest at heart. We have committed our family to Him and are confident in His ability to keep us.

Judah has completed 4 weeks of treatment at Seattle Children's Hospital (an incredible facility for children facing a life threatening situation) and is doing GREAT! The entire protocol is two years long, but only the first 6 months are fairly intense. After six months the medication and clinic visits will be less frequent and we hope and pray that we could return to Belize then Sara and Judah come periodically for "maintenance".

Urgent prayer: Tomorrow is the final treatment for phase 1. The doctors will re-evaluate the Lymphoma, if 2/3 of the Cancer has dissolved we will begin phase 2. However, if 1/3 of the cancer remains we will hqve to repeat phase 1. Please pray with us that the treatment and our diet will be effective and we will proceed to the next phase and remain on course.

School We enjoyed 9 years of home school with the kids yet when Lymphoma entered the picture we needed a new plan. While praying over the endless changes in our life we "discovered" the Hutch School in the Seattle School District, run by the Cancer Care Alliance Network in Seattle designed for children with family members battling cancer. We enrolled Keilah and Elijah and are delighted with this choice. As anticipated, Keilah began to thrive the first day and Elijah surprised us with an easier transition than expected. It's week three, and every day his attitude and participation improves. ;) We feel very comfortable with the school and teachers and believe it is a fantastic opportunity for our kids. In between clinic appointments Judah does two hours a day of tutoring at the hospital with a teacher. He is working very hard and continues to strengthen his foundation.

Belize I traveled to Belize in early January to meet with staff and pack up our house. We prayed together and set up a system to function by in our absence. John George will be covering most of the YWAM activities and we are confident in his ability. I also met with some of the key Legacy leaders. I am thankful for Jason Twist, Kerm Thimbrell and other Legacy leaders who have a desire to see this generation impacted with truth and continue the work in my temporary absence. I will meet with both teams weekly over the phone and would like to schedule regular trips to Belize. My next trip is planned for the March Legacy Conference.

A high point of my trip was the Legacy prayer and worship time with the young people. Every other Friday night, youth have been gathering at the YWAM Belmopan campus for prayer and worship from 7 to midnight. We are confident that God is moving among the young people in Belize. We are blessed to see what He is doing, and believe that some of what is talking place is what we have been praying and hoping for for many years. Young people are passionate about Jesus, speaking publicly about their personal choice to follow the ways of the kingdom and are walking in radical devotion to the King. We know God has called us to be part of the team that will see His kingdom come in Belize as it is in heaven, and can hardly wait to return to keep building what God has called us to.

I also met with our Caribbean director, Bill Landis to process this season. While it will be different and Judah will be the priority, we are committed to keep doing all we can to move in the direction God has called us to. With today's technology I should be able to keep very involved with Belize and have more time for YWAM correspondence, putting vision to paper and sharing it in this season of our life.
We want to again thank all of you who have been standing with us over the years in what God has called us. It will be strange to live in Seattle for a while but we believe God will help us.

Update on Judah December 22, 2010

Hello everyone, Merry Christmas from rainy Seattle!

we just got back from the hospital and had a good long meeting with Dr Thompson and Dr Cheung. The results from the original biopsy and MRI were examined and it is conclusive that Judah does indeed have lymphoblasic lymphoma and is at stage 3. However, thank God the cancer is NOT in his blood or bone marrow. This means it is not leukemia.

The doctors are confident in their ability to deal with the illness and will begin treatment next week, after Christmas. The whole process will take about 2 years with the most intense part being the first six months.

Needless to say this was another big blow for us, after so much good news the past few weeks. Thank God for His grace and strong presence with us in this time, and thank you for your continued prayers for our family. A lot of decisions and changes will have to be made in the next week as we prepare for the next season of our lives.

Among other things please pray...
for each of us, as we feel like our life has been flipped upside down.
for Judah and his physical and emotional strength through all of this.
that we hear positive news about our medical insurance soon.

1st Update for Judah

Hello friends,

(We will try to send out periodic updates on Judah's condition as time goes along, and ask that you please forward them to anyone you know who would be interested).

After submitting our paper work for medical insurance this morning, we had our first appointment with Dr. Brown (a Christian pediatrician). He checked Judah's paperwork and examined him. Dr. Brown referred us to Children's Hospital in Seattle and will take care of transferring all paper work and setting up the first appointment. By Monday or Tuesday we will know when the appointment will be.

After a lot of discussion and praying we have decided to initiate a strict health plan specifically designed to fight cancer and increase the immune system. Incredibly, a $200 juicer did not sell at our churches missionary auction last week so we have been able to discover the incredible world of juiced fruits and vegetables!

We have a great support system in place with expert individuals able to give advice practically every step of the way. We sincerely thank those of you who have given financially, sacrificed time and prayed, fasted for a breakthrough, spread the word to others, and those who have hugged, cried, laughed and researched with us. We are in this together and God will recieve the glory for this victory. We appreciate you for joining us in this journey.

Hello friends,

I'd like to thank you for giving and praying for us while I was in the Dominican Republic participating in the YWAM Regional Conference. Below is a brief read out from the time and some wonderful pictures at attached. Again, thank YOU for taking part in this Great Adventure with us! We are blessed!!!

A sense purpose and destiny filled the air as over 400 YWAMers from over 17 nations turned their hearts upward, singing love songs to the Overseer and Bishop of our soul. What a blessing it was to be together with people from around the Caribbean giving thanks to God for his faithfulness for the last 50 years to our mission, and seeking His face for the flames to go forward into the future as we continue to impact the hearts of individuals. It was a blessing to have Loren and Darleen Cunningham with us, the founders of Youth With a Mission. We all feel empowered with vision to continue doing what God has called us to, with a specific focus on the younger generation. Please pray for me as I continue serving as the Area director for the North West English speaking nations within the Caribbean and we seek to see this region empowered with Truth to impact the nations of the earth.

Also please keep our Legacy conference in your prayers for this weekend. It’s evident to us that God is doing something in this time in Belize among the young people. We have over 170 young people that will be attending this conference from all over Belize. Our heart is that God himself would speak this weekend to the hearts of every individual. I will be speaking this weekend on the Kingdom of God and how we as individuals need to prayerfully find out what our part is in seeing His kingdom come to our nation, and to walk in loving obedience to that call in what ever area He may call us to.

Knights and Days of Chivalry

This week in the "Andrews Academy" ;) we have been studying the "the days of chivalry", with the Lords and Ladies and their castles. Boy oh boy, the kids are sure enjoying this one!

We talked about the sons of a lord and how their life progressed from child, to page, to squire, to knight. Of course we gathered every book and toy we had with castles and knights to examine them in depth! We also made our OWN family Coat of Arms, identifying us from others in "the battle".

They day a squire was dubbed a knight, was a grand affair. There was an all night prayer time, a rare bath to be taken, new cloths to don, a new belt and fancy golden spurs to be fastened on. However, one detail of this whole day stood out to me and kids. Below are the vows a knight would solemnly swear in front of those attending the ceremony -

To be brave and good

To fight for the Christian religion

To protect the weak

To honor women

It stood out to us that the boys went through 21 years of serving and training before they could be a knight, and these were the values a knight carried in his heart. Indeed, it was a time full of feuding and turmoil, yet some things still stand out in history that we can all learn from.

I can assure you that these days of school will stick in my childrens head forever (I hope), it sure will stick in mine!

High School Impact

Jason was able to share in a high school's Special Emphasis Retreat today. We always count it a priviledge to speak truth and love to the youth of our nation and to walk beside them and hand them tools that will enable them to walk differently. We're thankful for the open doors and feel honored to stand with the high schoolers and together see a change come to this nation.

The New Dance Studio!

It's "almost" done! At least it's functional! We're having classes in OUR NEW DANCE STUDIO!!! It's so exciting to see it finally "done"! There is still a lot of work to do, but at least for now we're in our own building and the students are enjoying all the space ("TWO mirrors??").

This is a dream come true for many of us and we're so thankful to God for this miracle. It's amazing. May this building be used for His glory for many, many, many generations to come.

Ad Deum Dance Intensive Readout

Hello Everybody!

I am home!! I wanted to send a quick thank you and update on the dance intensive this year. It started out intense and ended intense!! I am so glad that I went even though by the second day I missed my babies so much! It was very difficult to leave them for a week but I knew John had it under control... or i made myself believe that! ?? lol.. jk John did an excellent job with the girls.

Every morning we were taken to a church where we would all gather and worship for an hour... sometimes two... how incredibly refreshing to just stand, or sit, or do whatever I want in His presence! God was so there! Everyday God would show Himself to each and every one of our team members. (Bethany, Caleb, Amy, Susen, Vicky and I) I felt so refreshed and revived with my relationship with God, getting back to my first love.
We were then taken to the dance studios, (about 100 students) to get ready for our ballet class in the morning, lunch, modern, and then 2 electives. It equaled up to A LOT of dancing everyday... 10:30 -6pm with a lunch break. We all were pretty much crippled by TUESDAY!! The teachers all loved Jesus and it was a really encouraging time of being challenged in excellence to dance! I was very proud of each one on our team -as we do not have that kind of exposure to classes like that on a weekly basis like most do that were there participating- we all put our everything into it!

I will tell one story for those who like to read ;). Our last elective of one of the days was a choreography class, where you learn some choreography from Ad Deum Dance Company. I have to admit at this point I was EXHAUSTED and in somewhat of a trance... SO tired and annoyed that the song I was learning a dance to was Ave Maria.. an opera song. It proved to be amazing choreography.. really hard.. but amazing. Our teacher, Shizu, an incredible dancer, wanted us all to sit and she performed it for us and gave us the story behind the dance. It was about Jesus' mother and her struggle and journey in life. The dance was powerful and then Shizu started talking about a mother's love.. and how it is comparable to the love of God!! I was in tears, many were, but as a mother I had never identified myself with Mary and how she would have felt having her son go through what He did in His life and then be crucified on a cross. What an experience! And that is just part.

Overall, I felt encouraged and like I was given a few more tools in my belt!
Thanks to all who prayed for us and gave towards this trip!!

Hey Guys,
I pray that all is going well with you at this time. It has been a blessing to know that our work each day is bringing change to the lives of individuals. What an exciting time it is for us to be alive.
We wanted to ask you guys to please keep us in your prayers. We have been feeling a lot of resistance leading up to our Legacy Youth Conference. This year we will be having Dean Sherman with us to speak to the young people on the topic of relationships. We have over a 135 young people signed up so far for the conference from about 25 different churches. We know God is using Legacy to disciple this generation and the enemy is not happy about that, so we would really appreciate your prayers in this hour.
This week our church building was broken into, they stole our Legacy sound equipment as well as other sound equipment for our church. This was a big hit for us but we know it is ultimately only distraction from the enemy. This weekend we will have to rent a sound system but are still believing God that we will be able to get the system back. The total loss is valued at over $5000usd. (The youth had done many fundraisers and offerings to purchase this equipment.) Please pray with us that we will be able to reclaim the equipment.

Dance Studio Progress

The new dance studio is really starting to take shape! Perhaps another month or so and we'll be in our new facility! Thank you for all of your prayers... this building project has been a miracle from the Lord and we're grateful. Please continue to pray with us for full provision on building the new YWAM base in Belmopan.

This is a vibrant, youth talk show addressing current issues that that generation is facing.
