LEGACY - Taken (Price Paid)

We're living in a time where more leaders are being called upon to draw the line and fight not just to preserve Belize, but sharpen the dull areas and truly cut through as a leading nation for righteousness, values & truth.
We at Legacy is passionate about grooming the next generation of leaders to take their rightful place of leadership in all spheres of society. We'd like to thank you for the role you've plaid in the lives our Belizean youth and we’d like to come along side you by inviting YOU and YOUR YOUTHS to our summer conference. The Legacy Youth Conference will be held at YWAM Banana Bank Campus AUGUST 1ST –  4TH, 2013.  Conference cost is $45 up to July 22nd and $55 after for late registration.
The theme of the up-coming conference is “Taken – Price Paid”. The idea from a biblical stand point is, we’re not for sale, and we’ve been bought by Christ and belong to him. From a social standpoint, we [Belize] are NOT for sale. It is important for our youths to know who they belong to, that they are consecrated to be the Kingdom of God on this Earth. Also that Belize is our land and they can play a part in the future of our nation.
We look forward to hear from you and to seeing you over the Legacy conference weekend.

Word

Matthew 5:1, 2, 9-12 MSG

"When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him. Arriving at a quiet place, he sat down and taught his climbing companions. This is what he said: "You're blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover who you really are, and your place in God's family. "You're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God's kingdom. "Not only that—count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—give a cheer, even!—for though they don't like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble."

For our Dear Friends

We are living in intense times, not only in Belize I’m sure, but we continue to push forward in the work God has called us to.  Over the past two years, as you know I have been co-hosting a daily talk show that quickly became the most popular show in Belize.
Not only is crime, corruption and mismanagement rampant in our country but now the strong homosexual agenda and abortion issues are taking center stage and threatening our nation’s constitution.  I have taken a firm stand in representing and fighting for traditional family values in Belize.  Somehow, I find myself on the forefront on this issue, fighting for truth and justice along with other “mighty men of God”.  I believe the years of YWAM training has empowered me for this season of my life.  I can’t remain silent while our moral foundation is under attack.
Over the years, I have been approached numerous times to consider running for office in our area.  I always brushed it off because I love the work I have been doing in YWAM.  However, over the last year the stirring has intensified in my heart, and in the past month our present government has boldly declared that they will become the liberal party in Belize.
Sara and I have prayed much and counseled with many about the possibility of serving in the realm of governance and feel a release to move forward.  While we know it won’t be an easy road we see the need for godly individuals of principle and integrity to represent our people.  We share with youth about the need to influence all spheres of society, and live out our Christian values in whatever area of society we function in.  I believe it’s my time to step out and be a voice in the area of government.  I have been training individuals who are more than able to continue leading Legacy and YWAM Belmopan and over the years we have built a strong team to carry these ministries to the next level.
Realistically, there will have to be a convention in November, however general elections will not be until 3 years.  We want to express our thanks to you for standing with us over the years in prayers and financial support. The next three months will be busy and if I win the convention in November it will still be two an a half years until general elections. November will be a big step in giving us more clarity about the future.  If you have any question please feel free to ask, as always we love and appreciate your input into our lives.

Blesssings to you and your family.

For God and Country,
Jason and Sara

Update on Lawsuit - Caleb Orozco vs Attorney General of Belize

Below is an accurate readout from our friend Scott Stirm on the Section 53 court case last week (Caleb Orozco vs Attorney General of Belize).  He paints a very clear picture of what went on so we will just pass it on to you.  Jason was in the courtroom the entire week, praying for and witnessing the entire thing unfold.  Thank God for the righteous men and women who humbly gather together in unity and stand up for Truth, and thank you for praying with us for our Jewel.

A Strong Team of National Leaders in attendance each day in the Supreme Court

"Oh my goodness, what a week!! After the previous week travelling all over the nation with Awareness & Prayer Rallies, almost 400 prayer warriors signing up for text updates, we came into the court case this week where the homosexuals are trying to change our "Unnatural Act/Sodomy" law, and it was literally 4 days of MIRACLES in the court room!!

We launched the night before the case with about 500 folks coming out for worship & prayer at the Supreme Court, powerful presence of the Lord as we joined hands, worshiped, prayed, and stretched forth our hands toward the court room, simply INVITING THE HOLY SPIRIT to come & do what He does best!! And we saw it!!

Some of the TOP attorneys in the Commonwealth, Lord Peter Goldsmith (#2 in UK) & Christopher Hamel-Smith, both Queens Counsel, failed to make clear arguments, contradicted themselves in their arguments, TALKED IN CIRCLES with no point on a regular basis!!! (confusion in the camp) They took us on a journey of Case Law to Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, Fiji, but it was like they forgot to talk about the guy who's claiming his rights are violated IN BELIZE!!!!!!

Then after Nigel Hawke, representing the AG's office, thundered from heaven that Belize is a SOVEREIGN NATION who determines it's OWN laws, and that this issue doesn't belong in the Courtroom, but in PARLIAMENT. Then Eamon Courtenay stepped up to the plate!!! He began to pull the case apart, limb for limb, showing how these BRILLIANT RENOWN ATTORNEYS failed to see the obvious... The affidavits were flawed, they failed to show how the Constitutional rights were violated, it was like he pulled the rug RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER THE CASE!!! Then looked at the dignified renown attorneys for the gays & said "Check, MATE!"

Attorneys for UNIBAM were SCRAMBLING like eggs while they were getting PEELED like carrots!! I called it Egg Foo Yung in the courtroom!! (you can tell I was fasting & thinking of everything in FOOD terms... :-)

One of the clinchers was when the lofty attorney for UNIBAM tried to get spiritual... "I too come from the Christian tradition, and God, whether that's a He, She, or IT, is painted in the Bible as the judge, the final judge, where everyone..." (Chief Justice) "Mr. Hamel-Smith, refrain from theological arguments and retract your statements." "Yes, my lord, the other thing I wanted to show is..." It was like watching a TENSE football game WHERE YOU CAN'T CHEER!!!!

Prayer, Worship and Intercession each night during the case

EVERY NIGHT during the case we had Worship & Prayer at the Supreme Court, joining hands, worshiping God, inviting His sovereign influence, and taking authority over the enemy. We had 200+ folks every night, but most of all, such a sovereign sense of His authority, His presence, and the PLEASURE OF HIS HEART! That's what we live for!!

Folks all over Belize were praying, fasting, locking in, taking it seriously, and I believe we saw God come through!! Now is the waiting game, till July for the decision. Waiting & praying... Praying & waiting... And Praying... and praying for the CJ, for visitations from God, dreams, visions, sovereign hovering over his quarters & home. Thanks everyone who joined with us!! And let's keep hammering through!!!"

Plus TV Responds to Pending Lawsuit

Plus TV responds to pending lawsuit

PlusTV, operating out of Belmopan is being sued by Hon. John Saldivar, the Area Representative of Belmopan in Claim 175 of 2003 in the Supreme Court. The case surrounds comments expressed by one of the hosts Patrick Jason Andrews on January 10th, earlier this year in an interview with Minister Patrick Faber. In that interview, Host Andrews was asked his opinion on the pre-election Christmas Pro-Poor Program Distribution, which he gave. On Rise and Shine Wednesday morning, Director of PlusTV, Louis Wade, stated Plus TV’s position as it pertains to media in Belize.
Louis Wade – Director of PlusTV:
vlcsnap-2013-04-11-12h46m36s54I want to speak on behalf of Plus TV, not as the Host of Rise and Shine, but as the co-owner of Plus TV with my wife.  And it’s very important for people to understand that Plus TV, which is eight years old, is not affiliated and has no intention of being affiliated with any political party, neither the UDP nor the PUP, not any third party.  We have absolutely no business interest, that has any shares of affiliation with Plus TV.  I want to say that their is no religious denomination that controls either directly or indirectly anything as it relates to Plus TV. And there is also no social group, or NGO that operates or has any say.  So we are in every sense of the word free media in Belize, because there are no political, nor religious, nor business entitirs, nor social entities, that have either direct or indirect strings attached to Plus TV
Wade says that despite the current lawsuit, Plus TV’s Director and Co-owner, Louis Wade made a firm commitment to his viewers and Belize to continue the unveiling of corruption within the country.
Louis Wade – Director of PlusTV:
We are committed to the fight against corruption on the country of Belize.  Plus TV is committed to fight against corruption.  However we have been doing it in a very slow way.  In other words, Plus TV has received many evidence and complaints about corruption.  And so in our fight against corruption, this is going to continue.  So it is going to increase and increase and increase, where we expose corruption.  We don’t care which political party is in power.
Secondly, Plus TV is committed to neutrality, political neutrality.  Plus TV believes firmly that the best way we as a media house can contribute to the current media environment, and the state of our nation, is to remain committed to neutrality.  We believe fundamentally that one of the purposes of this lawsuit is to try to move Plus TV from a position of neutrality, and to move into a particular political party, either by currying favor with the UDP so that they remove the lawsuit, or that we rush to the PUP, so that the UDP is able to say “See dey.  Dem a di PUP all along.” We reject this attempt to try to put us in a political corner, and a commitment to the nation of Belize that before, during, and after this fiasco, we will continue to provide a neutrally ballanced and objective viewpoint as Plus TV
Wade says that believes that the lawsuit is an attempt to stifle freedom of speech and to muzzle independent press in Belize.

"People Power"

Dear Friends,
You may be aware, over the last two years I have co-hosted a daily talk show host in Belize called “Rise and Shine” on PlusTV.  Rise and Shine is now the number one talk show in Belize with full national coverage, having the largest following.  PlusTV is a conservative, Judeo-Christian media house, yet there is no other station that entertains as many varying opinions and views on the widest assortment of topics.

It is a privilege to sit with individuals from all backgrounds and from every seat of influence.  Above all, it is a blessing to be a voice for the voiceless, the poor and needy.  This is not always easy as oppressors do not like being challenged.  For example, a few months ago we were told that a powerful business man in the southern part of Belize was paying hundreds of it workers below minimum wage.  We took the information and exposed it on Rise and Shine.  It was a tense time for us, with various threats involved, but again I believe it is my responsibility to speak out against injustice and corruption.  The situation was eventually corrected and hard workers now receive fair payment for their labor.

For the last two years, at Christmas our government takes millions of tax payers dollars and gives area representatives authority to distribute it to the poor and needy with few, if any restrictions or checks and balances.  There is no accountability to where the money goes.  I have spoken openly about the initiative and mentioned that the procedure would only facilitate corruption.  I have mentioned that we have many well trusted and established charity groups through out the nation that those funds could be channeled through.

Well, if you know anything about politics in a developing country you know that our representatives feel like no one is able to challenge them and that they are above the law.

This week we found out that a government minister is suing PlusTV, my co-host Pastor Louis Wade and myself.  This is the price we pay for speaking against injustice and corruption.  The public response has been amazing and we know this will backfire on the minister himself.

However, we need your prayers as this minister has a reputation of being a very corrupt person.  Presently he is under investigation for mismanagement, but when you live in a country where there is no separation of the Executive, Legislative or Judiciary nothing ever comes out of those investigations.

We ask that you please keep us in your prayers for protection over our families and for wisdom for myself and Pastor Wade as we move forward.

Much thanks,

Patrick Jason and Sara Andrews
