Reappointment as Senator

On Friday, my husband was reappointed as a senator here in Belize. Pray for wisdom and strength as he and his colleagues speak the unpopular truth in that place. I love you Senator Andrews and will forever stand by your side.

Belize National Prayer

Almighty and Eternal God, who through Jesus Christ has revealed Your Glory to all nations, please protect and preserve Belize, our beloved country.

God of might, wisdom and justice, please assist our Belizean government and people with your Holy Spirit of counsel and fortitude.

Let your light of Your divine wisdom direct their plans and endeavours so that with Your help we may attain our just objectives. With Your guidance, may all our endeavours tend to peace, social justice, liberty, national happiness, the increase of industry, sobriety and useful knowledge.

We pray, O God of Mercy, for all of us that we may be blessed in the knowledge and sanctified in the observance of Your most holy law, that we may be preserved in union and in peace which the world itself cannot give. And, after enjoying the blessings of this life, please admit us, dear Lord, to that eternal reward that You have prepared for those who love You.

AMEN

March 2015 Update

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious."
- Vince Lombardi

Radical Obedience and Transitions

It has been a while since I have given an update of our life, I aim to do a better job in the near future. We are continually amazed at the goodness of God to our family in this transition. We remain purposefully engaged to see God's Kingdom established in the places where he has placed us.
Transitions are rarely easy, but we are confident that God has spoken and it is our desire to obey him in this difficult season as best as we know. Last week I had the privilege to sit under the teaching of Darlene Cunningham. One of the things she talked about was how God wants us to walk in radical obedience but that we can't separate those two words from each other. Its most impacting when we combine Radical Obedience to the voice of God.
Over the last few months I have been doing research for various reasons and have been astounded at the way we disciple the nations. My basic question has been, how do we get the values and principles of God into the different spheres of our society. At this point in my studies, I am encouraged to note that it IS possible and God HAS spoken into all the spheres of society and it has been done before! To realize that there is no separation of scared and secular is a life changing idea, the earth is the Lord's and his principles should be applied intentionally and diligently to all spheres. It was a blessing to study the life of William Wilberforce who gave his life for the abolition of slavery and Abraham Kyuper from Holland who was a Pastor, Journalist and Prime Minister of Holland in 1905, or Calvin from Geneva who God used to transform a city and who's impact is still felt today. These are only a few of the great Christian leaders I have researched, and their dedicated life permeated all spheres of society with kingdom truth. The question that goes through my mind is, can it still happen today? Can it happen in my generation?
I continue to serve as an appointed senator (not a full time role). This position provides a national platform to address current national issues, weather it's crime, economy, education and other social issues (same sex marriage, abortion, prostitution, ect). During the Senate meetings, we debate these issues and I alway try to give a Biblical perspective, these matters are then presented to the public.
I am enrolled in the Executive Masters degree in Leadership program with the University of the Nations. This has been really helpful in this season and again I am bring equipped to be a more relevant leader in the sphere that God has called me to. As I write this update I am in Ensenada, Mexico participating in one of the required modules. (Hence the lack of family pictures!) I will travel to Hawaii in June for ten days and then to Australia in September for the final module and graduation. I am thankful to God for this opportunity, it has been so beneficial.
The Belmopan Constituency, where I serve as the elected representative for my party, has at the lower level of government a municipal town council. Part of my responsibility is to oversee the team that would be representing my party at that level. Late last year I put together a solid team that will be contesting the Municipal election for the city of Belmopan next week. I am not running on that ballot but I am overseeing the team and hoping for a victory.
I want to thank our faithful friends and family who have believed, stood beside us and prayed with us over the years. It is more clear now that the journey God has taken us on has only been training and preparation for this season. I am sure also, that this present season is just preparation for down the road. I write this update not only to give you an idea as to what's going on in our life but to specifically to ask for your sincere prayer covering over us as a family. We believe we are up against some of the greatest giants we have known and have never walked this way before. The spiritual warfare is great and we know that we need active prayer covering as we continue to seek the advancement of God's kingdom in the sphere of governance. We believe we function now as the point of a spear, and will not able to walk this alone. At the end of the day we seek transformation for our Nation and that our people will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Thanks again for your prayers for our family and for standing with us. I will try to send out a short prayer update maybe every two weeks or so. If you would like to commit to pray for us and the work God has called us to and would want to receive those updates please let us know.

Christmas Tradition: Fireworks

This may be a Belizean thing, but another Christmas Tradition we all look forward to and celebrate with is Fireworks! Just like you all celebrate on 4th of July with all sorts of bangs and booms... That's what we do here around Christmas Time. Many weeks before Christmas and deep into the New Year you can hear and see fireworks shooting off around town. Again, it's another thing we look forward to and love about celebrating Christmas in Belize.

Another Tradition: Christmas Light Looking

Does anyone else do this?! In our family, we drive around on Christmas Eve and look at Christmas lights. Of course we rate them on a scale of 1-10 with the hopes of finding that one house that surpasses the highly coveted 1st Place rank. This is a tradition that started LONG ago when I was a little girl. We would all pile into Uncle Danny and Aunt Suzy's van and drive around The Island looking for the house that decorated with lights the best. We of course sang Christmas carols at the top of our lungs and honked at the houses that stood out among the rest. One year we even spotted a Santa wrapping gifts in an upstairs window. Christmas is such a special time of year, we thank God for sending His son to earth as a baby and showing us the love of a family.

Christmas Tradition: Cookies!

We make Christmas Cookies every year, and this year was no exception. I love how everyone jumps in and enjoys this time together. The smell of sugar cookies baking, sounds of Christmas music and laughter fill the air... It brings such joy to my heart. Some day they will all be grown up and out of the house (maybe making cookies with their own babies), I wonder if Jason will still decorate cookies with me then!?

Steel Bands Concert

Oh what a lovely night out on the town! We went to the Pandemonium & Panerrifix's Steel Bands Christmas presentation, "Carol of the Bands". I love the diversity of our little nation and the incredibly talented young people. It wasn't the typical version of "Silent Night" but it was a fun way to celebrate Christmas in the Caribbean. Congratulations to all those who worked so hard to put on this presentation, it was truly an enjoyable event.

Christmas Vacation!

IT STARTED!!! Christmas vacation is here so bring on the family time, bring on the games, bring on the late nights and fun times of togetherness!

Daddy Daughter Night

Jason and Keilah had the wonderful opportunity to attend a Daddy Daughter Nights at George Price Center last month. Besides enjoying a lovely evening together, Keilah and some members from her studio were also performing at the event, so it was a full evening for her! I thank God that this was able to happen and that they both took advantage of the moment together. Don't they look lovely? <3
